Matt Winkler, Director: Matt has been coaching indoor and beach volleyball for more than 20 years. As a beach coach, Matt has worked with players of all levels, from 7 year olds up through AVP and FIVB professionals, starting NYC Beach Volleyball Club in 2008, as one of only 3 junior beach programs in the country. He has had players qualify for the USAV National Beach Tour Championships, as well as competing in Volley (now AVP) America Nationals. In 2018, Matt had a 12U team playing in the VolleyAmerica National Championship finals. He has had players recruited to play Division I and II beach volleyball in the NCAA, and he continues to promote and grow the game of beach volleyball in the Northeast.

As an indoor coach, Matt was the Head Coach for the Women’s National Team in Honduras, and led them to being one of only 8 teams invited to the NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament in 2012. In the United States, he has worked with USA Volleyball High Performance and has had club teams qualify for the national championships. His players have been recruited to play Division I, II, and III in the NCAA, and he has led teams to the high school state championship tournament, as well.

Matt grew up on the beaches of Long Island, playing beach volleyball before he learned the indoor game. He went on to play at the University of Connecticut, before moving to Florida to train for beach volleyball year round. He has competed in countless tournaments as an Open Level player, and still enjoys playing when he can.

Ginger Schuster: Ginger grew up in Longmont, Colorado, and has been playing volleyball since the age of 14. Originally a setter for the Scarlet Knights Division I Rutger’s Women’s Volleyball team, Ginger began competing in beach volleyball tournaments up and down the East Coast after college. She has competed in multiple AVP events, and has trained in California with top players and coaches, as well. She is recognized as one of the top women beach players on the East Coast.

After taking time away from volleyball to have two children, Ginger returned to playing, as well as giving back to the sport she loves by finding fun ways to motivate and challenge young athletes. She has coached indoors for Asphalt Green, and is looking forward to utilizing her playing and coaching expertise to develop young players with AVP Academy.
